Tips for Optimizing the Frontier compute engine

You can make your personal computer's vital processing power even more valuable by "tuning up" the components the Frontier compute engine uses. Here are some tips for making sure you get the most out of the Frontier compute engine when it's running on your computer.

Run the Frontier compute engine All the Time

Selecting the Compute in Background option lets the Frontier compute engine process available tasks in the background, even when you are actively using your computer. This gives the Frontier compute engine more time to work on compute-intensive tasks.

Increase Your Disk Space

Freeing up space occupied by programs and files no longer used or allowing the Frontier compute engine to use as much disk space as possible will allow the engine to store and process more tasks.

Increase Your Memory

Allowing the Frontier compute engine to use more memory or increasing the amount of memory on your computer will increase your CPU's effectiveness when processing tasks.

Get a Fast Connection

Having a fast connection, such as a cable modem or DSL, will allow the Frontier compute engine to receive more tasks from and send results faster to the Frontier™ server.

Connect Frequently

The more often you connect, the more tasks the Frontier compute engine can retrieve to work on during your computer's unused time.

Leave Your Computer On

Leaving your computer on rather than turning it off after each use will give the Frontier compute engine more idle time to process tasks. You may also want to ensure that the power save mode on your hard disks is turned off, if your computer has this feature.

Use Less CPU-Intensive Screen Savers

Even better, don't use any screen saver! This will maximize the amount of power the Frontier compute engine can use. Screen savers that use minimal processing power include "Blank Screen," "Beziers," "Channel Screen Saver," "Logon Screen Saver," "Marquee Display," "Mystify," and "Starfield Simulation."
