The Options Dialog Box

Once the Frontier compute engine is installed on your computer and you have established the desired connection settings, little or no subsequent intervention is required. However, if at any time you wish to change your settings, you can use the Options dialog box to update them.

Opening the Options Dialog Box

Open the Options dialog box by either clicking the Options button on the Frontier compute engine window, or by right-clicking the Frontier compute engine's tray icon and selecting Configure the Engine.

Affiliate ID

Affiliate IDs enable the server to track a collection of Engines as a collective group, aggregating statistics for an entire department, campus, organization, etc. If you were provided with an Affiliate ID by the Parabon Computation, enter it in the "Affiliate ID" field.

Display Tray Icon

Determines whether the Frontier icon will appear in the system tray.

Active Display

By default, this check box is unchecked so the Frontier compute engine's main window opens only when you tell it to. If you'd like the window to appear whenever your computer is idle, check Active Display.

Description

Idle Only

In Idle-only mode, the Frontier Compute Engine behaves just like a screen saver -- processing tasks only when no keyboard or mouse activity has occurred for a specific period of time. Disabling idle-only mode runs the Compute Engine continuously in the background, regardless of user input.

Run as a Service

Running as a Service launches the Frontier Compute Engine at system boot-up, which is recommended.

Suspend

Suspending Frontier stops the Compute Engine's execution of tasks and ceases all communication with the Frontier server.

Reset on Startup

Resetting the Frontier Compute Engine on startup causes it to reset its session with the Frontier server every time it re-starts. This option should be checked ONLY if you are running a third-party configuration protection tool that prevents the Compute Engine from saving task information on your hard drive.

Use Proxy Server

If your computer connects to a Proxy Server to access the Internet through a firewall, select the Use Proxy Server check box, then click the Configure Proxy button to customize the Compute Engine's proxy settings.

Configuring a Proxy Server

  1. To use proxy server settings, for example, if your computer connects to the Internet through a firewall, select the Use Proxy Server check box.

  1. Click Configure Proxy to open the Proxy Settings dialog box.

  1. Enter your HTTPS proxy server's IP address and the server port in the Address and Port fields, respectively, clicking OK when finished.
