If you connect to the Internet through a firewall, your browser may use a proxy server for security purposes. You can check your Web browser as follows to determine your proxy settings, or consult your System Administrator or Access Provider for more information.

Tip: If you connect using a cable modem or DSL, you probably dont use a proxy server. |
Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
Click the Connections tab.
Click the LAN Settings button. Check under "Proxy server" for address and port field entries.

Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
Expand the Advanced contents by clicking the plus sign (+).
Beneath Advanced, click Proxies.
Next to the Manual Proxy Configuration radio button, click the View button. Check for address and port field entries.
