Installation

To install the Frontier compute engine:

1. From the Frontier compute engine's download page on the Parabon Computation or Compute Against Cancer web site, select your operating system and then click Next.

2. Next, select where you would like your earnings to go.

3. Click the Download the Frontier compute engine Now button. This will open the Save As dialog box, from which you can save the Frontier compute engine's installation file to your computer.

4. Navigate to and double-click the .exe file. This will open the Install Wizard, which will guide you through the remainder of the installation process.

5. On the Compute Engine Options dialog box, click Next to accept the Frontier compute engine's defaults or feel free to customize your settings.

6. If you connect to the Internet through a firewall, your browser may use a proxy server. If so, click the Proxy Settings button on the Choose Type of Internet Connection dialog box.

   • On the Proxy Settings dialog box, select the Use proxy server check box and enter the IP address and port number of your HTTPS proxy server. Click Close when finished.

When you have completed the installation, the Frontier Compute Engine window will appear. The Frontier compute engine will attempt to register with the Frontier server. Once the registration process is complete, the JRE (Java Runtime Environment), which includes the Java Virtual Machine (JVM), will be downloaded. The JRE is approximately 8 MB in size and may take up to an hour to download on slower connections. During this time, however, you can set up an account and resume using your computer as usual.
